• American Association for Geriatric Psychiatry
  An association dealing with psychiatric issues pertaining to older citizens. Since many in this age group are also veterans, their mental health concerns are central to this association.
• Helping Veterans Return
  This 2006 White Paper from the Constella Group identifies gaps in meeting the needs of soldiers serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
• National Center for PTSD
  This site is part of the Department of Veterans and is a portal for other sites dealing with associated problems, treatments, and unique issues faced by vets.

  Tips from Mental Health America for returning to family and communities after deployment and combat.
• American Psychiatric Guidelines on PTSD
  The American Psychiatric Association has developed practice guidelines for working with people who have PTSD.
• House Committee on Veteran Affairs
  The U.S. government site with headlines and links to stories and press releases. Caution is recommended because this is headed by political appointments and comments often reflect a partisan view, especially close to elections. Nonetheless, searching can lead to important testimony and data.
• Veterans' Disability Benefits Commission Report
  A congressionally mandated report, two years in the making, to address gaps in the way the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration determine disabilities. An 18-page summary and the 562-page report both available (pdf).
