Albert Ellis, a clinical psychologist many considered among the most influential of his generation, died in New York City, July 24. Ellis believed everybody had elements of "crooked thinking," and replaced Freudian principles of analysis, requiring years of therapy, with cognitive problem solving, a foundation for Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. He was the author of 78 books.
