Research assessing suicide attempts for 10-18 year olds (n=210) who ended up in an emergency room concludes that risk factors included "romantic breakups, exposure to suicide/suicide attempts, and pregnancy in self or partner." Untreated depression also figured for males. The study was conducted in two emergency rooms, and gathered information from questionnaires about treatment history, environmental factors, and sociodemographic characteristics to determine the risks. It is published in the August issue of the Journal of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
