The Washington Post reports that six clinics in the district are to be privatized by March 2010 at a savings of $14 million. The District of Columbia has already transferred about 8,000 patients into private care. Cost-savings aside, some clients worry about disrupting relationships with their doctors. Florida and North Carolina have turned to private service providers and the results have been mixed.
