Children believe if someone tries hard enough, he or she can overcome ADHD or depression, suggest authors studying nearly 1,100 children nationwide. The findings are published in the July issue of Psychiatric Services. These beliefs aligned closely with explanations that parenting and substance use contributed to a child's problems. The authors believe their findings can help create programs to reduce stigmatizing beliefs that lead to social distancing.
