Continuing their efforts to end Medicare discrimination for mental health, yesterday Sens. John Kerry (D-MA) and Olympia Snowe (R-MAINE) introduced a bill (S 3028) to revoke the 190-day lifetime cap on psychiatric hospitalization. Kerry called this "arcane" a "random" designation. Two years ago, they co-sponsored a bill to end the unequal Medicare co-payments for psychiatric services. Forty-six national organizations are supporting the bill.
