britishflag.jpg Politicians in Great Britain have struck a deal not to engage in accusations, slurs about a candidate's mental health status or treatment. It is intended to permit greater conversation about mental health issues without recrimination or stigmatizing accusations. It has the support of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and directors of advocacy organizations. According to the director of Stand to Reason, these issues drove him to set up the advocacy group

"run by and for talented people with mental health problems, including MPs. It is unconscionable that in a representative democracy, 1/4 people should have to hide their life experiences which may enable them to make better decisions, particularly in relation to developing well-funded services that meet the needs of mental health service users
