Dr. Haroon Rashid Chaudhry, head of the Department of Psychiatry at Fatima Jinnah Medical College, and Honorary Executive Director of Fountain House, died in Lahore, Pakistan, on Monday night. A pioneer in bringing psychiatry to general hospitals in Pakistan in the 1960s, he was an early supporter of rehab programs in the community. As a leader in the World Federation for Mental Health he was a frequent speaker at professional and international conferences.
Dr. Chaudhry died at the Punjab Institute of Cardiology where he underwent open heart surgery following chest pains on Monday.
DR. HAROON RASHID CH. WAS VERY VERY BEST DOCTOR. I WAS HIS PATIENT. I WILL SAY THAT AFTER ALLAH HE SAVES MY LIFE. DUE TO HIS TREATMENT I AM ALIVE NOW. I WILL ALWAYS PRAY FOR HIM. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE, AMEEN, HIS DEATH IS A BIG LOSS FOR PAKISTAN.

an't forget his devotion to mental illness. he was extremely loyal towards his words and his patients. i was his internee in the recent months.... can't forget my time spent in fountain house.. may his soul rest in heaven ameeen

It is with deep sorrow that i inform you of the sad demise of Professor Doctor Haroon Rasheed Chaudry. He was a dedicated, humble, hardworking an an extremely honest person. May his soul rest in peace. Ameen. He died on the 5th of october. 1AM PST.
