The American Psychiatric Association (APA) is extending the open commenting period for the DSM-V until July 15.
Review of the proposed changes to the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual have been taking place since February.
In a letter to the APA's membership, Dr. Carol Bernstein explained one reasons a revision was needed: "[A] large number of patients receiving any DSM-IV diagnosis also meet criteria for multiple diagnoses. Some studies have identified clusters of disorders that co-occur at very high frequencies," she said in March.
