There are actually a surprising number of reasons why you could face a nicotine test. Some of them are quite serious, with implications that can last for years. So, what we’re going to do here is tell you how to cheat a nicotine test, because it’s hardly fair if you have weakened with tobacco a little to be penalized for years to come.
You’re going to learn how to pass a cotinine test in 24 hours, meaning with 24 hours or less notice. There are several ways to achieve this, and in this guide you’re going to learn the exact methods you need to follow to test negative for nicotine use.
Plus, we will talk through when you could face a nicotine test, the types of test that can be done, and explain how long nicotine can stay in your system from vaping and smoking, so that you can see how at risk you are.
When Could You Face a Nicotine/Cotinine Drug Test?
An awful lot of people still smoke, and even more vape nowadays. What’s not quite so well known is that it can have severe penalties for quite a lot of reasons, some of them significant.
For example, you can face a life insurance nicotine test. If you test positive, even if you are vaping and trying to give up, you could face insurance premiums that cost thousands of dollars more over the lifetime of the policy. Although obviously you’re a higher risk, it’s hardly fair if you’re trying to do the right thing, is it?
These are the main reasons why US citizens can face a nicotine drug test:
- Life insurance nicotine testing
- Court order testing (things like child custody and probation)
- Eligibility/access/continuation of smoking cessation programs and support
- To be eligible for certain types of elective surgery
- For employment purposes (rare)
- If nicotine overdose is suspected
How Long Does Nicotine Stay In Your System?
Before we discuss how long nicotine stays in your system from both vaping and smoking, let’s talk about what’s actually looked for during a nicotine test.
When you smoke, nicotine produces byproducts, the main one of which is called cotinine. It’s actually this metabolite that looked for during a nicotine test, hence why it’s officially called a cotinine test rather than a nicotine test.
How long nicotine actually stays in your body will also depend on who you are, and the following factors feed into the length of time cotinine can be detectable in the body:
- How good your body is at removing toxins like cotinine
- The strength of the nicotine you smoke
- The frequency of nicotine intake
- Whether other drugs and alcohol are slowing down your system
- Your general health and fitness
- How much water you drink
- How good your diet is
- Your age and sex
So as you can see, it’s pretty individual. When people talk about average drug detection times, including for things like nicotine, they are generally referring to people who are light users.
These are the generally accepted timescales between your last nicotine intake and it completely leaving your body:
- Nicotine is undetectable in blood after 1-3 days
- Nicotine is undetectable in saliva after 3-4 days
- Nicotine is undetectable in urine after 3-5 days
- Nicotine is undetectable in hair after 90 days
The problem with these average elimination times in the body is also that it’s almost always referring to nicotine, and not cotinine which can last for much longer.
Even in blood, cotinine can be detectable for up to 10 days. Heavy smokers can still have levels of cotinine above normal, confirming nicotine intake, but up to 20 days after last intake.
So as you can see here, it’s not linear, and if you’re smoking regularly, you’re going to struggle to cover the fact up unless you quit for three weeks or more.
Strategies To Pass A Nicotine Test
Now we have talked a bit about nicotine testing and how long it takes you to get naturally clean, we can talk about the ways it’s possible to pass a cotinine test at short notice.
I’m going to level with you, and you may well have already worked out, there’s no way to learn how to pass a cotinine test in 24 hours unless you haven’t smoked for a number of days.
If you haven’t been taking in nicotine for several days, then you stand a good chance of passing anyway, unless you’re a chronic user.
It is also possible to get naturally clean in a week or less if you’re a moderate smoker, and less than two weeks if you’re a heavy smoker, by doing a natural detoxification, and using a powerful detox pill called Toxin Rid.
Toxin Rid will speed up the removal of toxins by 50% or more. So if you could be clean in two weeks naturally, then a natural detox alongside using Toxin Rid could get you clean to pass any type of nicotine test in one week, or maybe even less.

But don’t worry, because it’s perfectly possible to learn how to cheat a nicotine test. I’m now going to go through the four different types of nicotine test you could face, and tell you the strategies to pass each type.
1. Saliva Test
A saliva nicotine test is actually relatively easy to pass naturally. If you’ve got more than three days’ notice, unless you’re a chronic smoker or vapor, then you’ll probably be naturally clean anyway.
The first way you can accelerate this and disguise your nicotine use is to brush your teeth more frequently and use mouthwash. Do each three or four times a day, and it will help to keep your gums and mouth free of nicotine deposits, trapped cotinine metabolites, and it will accelerate saliva through flow.
As well as cleaning your teeth and using mouthwash, you should also drink plenty of water; frequently sipping to keep the saliva moving and the toxins out of your mouth.
Doing the above should lessen the amount of time the toxins are detectable in your urine by about 24 hours. If you still think you’re in trouble, there is another option.
You can use a specialist mouthwash to neutralize the toxins for about 30 minutes so you can pass a drug test. Toxin Wash and Ultra Klean Ultra Wash other two best ones you can buy. They cost around $30.
The downside with specialist mouthwash products is you can’t be observed when you use them. If you think you could get asked to submit a nicotine sample on the spot with no notice, then you should use Oral Clear gum instead.
It’s not actually gum at all, it’s a capsule of liquid. You discreetly put into your mouth (pretend to cough), pop it, swill it around discreetly in your mouth, and then swallow the lot. That will keep your saliva neutralized for about 15 minutes.
Oral Clear gum is expensive at $90 per capsule, but that’s one hell of a lot cheaper than thousands of dollars in increased insurance premiums.
2. Urine Test
The most common type of test for nicotine you might have to learn how to cheat is a urine sample test.
The urine sample test is the most common type of test for any type of metabolites, from drugs, nicotine, or any other substance. Thankfully, it’s also the easiest to cheat.
As I’ve said, although urine is usually clean of cotinine metabolites in five days or less, for chronic smokers it can be 10 days or more.
You’ve got two strategies for passing a urine test.
The first it to submit a completely fake sample. To do this, I recommend Sub Solution. It contains 14 chemicals found in urine, looks like it, smells like it, and even froths like it.
Sub Solution also uses heat activator powder. Because your sample has to be submitted at between 90°F and 100°F, you need to get the fake urine within that narrow temperature range.
Before you go in to submit your sample, you simply tap in some of the heat activator powder (usually around one third of that supplied), and agitate it. It will dissolve, and raise the temperature of the liquid. You just need to get it as close to 100°F possible, without going above that.
So a high-quality synthetic urine like Sub Solution is the easiest way to pass a urine sample test for nicotine use.
However, if you’re squeamish about smuggling a sample in, or you think you could face a request to submit a urine sample without any notice, then you don’t have that option.
The only choice then is to use a high-quality detox drink.
Detox drinks do not detox your body permanently, that’s a complete misconception. All they do is mask the toxins for a few hours.
A good quality detox drink does this by flushing out your body far more efficiently than water can. It also floods your body with liquid so that fresh urine enters your bladder that does not contain toxins.
But more than that, it floods your body with things found in urine, in the correct proportions. Because there’s such a flood of nutrients and minerals found in urine, they are passed through as waste in the correct proportions to appear in your urine in a natural manner.
On top of that, a good quality detox drink will also keep the color of your urine natural as well. Put together, it means that you can pass a nicotine test with your own urine that is balanced, natural, and will pass any level of scrutiny without having detectable levels of cotinine in it.

If you’re going to use a detox drink, you should, if possible, do at least a 24-hour detox before the day of your test. If you haven’t got any notice, then unless you’re a chronic user, you’ll still get two or three hours clean during which you can submit your sample.
3. Hair Test
The third type of nicotine test you need to learn how to cheat is the dangerous hair follicle test.
When you take in nicotine, it travels round your bloodstream, and some of the metabolites get trapped under the hair follicles. As new hair grows, these metabolites are trapped inside the shaft (under the cuticle layer) to form an indelible recording of your drug use.
Legally, they will take a sample close to your scalp (if you’re bald from another part of your body using slower growing body hair). That will show the most recent 90 days history, which is all they can legally analyze.
So if you’ve consumed nicotine the past 90 days, it will be found by a hair drug test.

4. Blood Test

It’s actually very rare, and you are unlikely to ever face a blood test for any type of drug test, let alone nicotine. Also, because of how quickly it exits blood, then you could pass a cotinine test just 24 hours after smoking.
